玄玄buckles herself

After a 3-4 days of exploring, today the little girl finally mastered the skill of buckling herself up in her high chair. She's so into it that she keeps buckling up and telling me to unbuckle her just so that she can buckle up again. Good job, kid!

牙牙学语

小玄子is definitely trying to communicate with us, albeit just via some nonsensical blabbering. She has picked up some more words though. A bit off, but still understandable.

‘街街’ (Gai Gai) is Ga Ga

‘鞋子’ is Je Zi

‘谢谢’ is Xe Xe

‘姐姐’ is Je Je

‘舅舅’ is Giu Giu

‘婆婆’ is Bo Bo

‘抱抱’ is Ba4 Ba4

'Bye Bye' is also Ba Ba

Luckily, there are still some more words that she did picked up accurately and is speaking well.

‘公公’，‘姑姑’，‘奶奶’，‘爷爷’，'Ball' and 'Apple' sounds right.

She has been producing her own baby lingo as well. Mickey and Minnie Mouse are called 'bak' for unknown reasons. And she has been humming 'um mo po', 'um bo po' and 'um mo po po' frequently. Nobody seems to be able to decipher that or relate that to anything. *scratch head*

R(A) Language

Sometimes kids just say funny things. Was in the lift with 姑姑 today and I told 玄玄 to 叫姑姑. She just refused to say anything. After the lift reach our floor, I walked out with her first, and she said ‘姑姑叫’ to me. Sounds so R(A)!!!

Zi Dao Bu Zi ....!!!

小玄子gave me a shock today, or maybe it's more of a surprise. I was nagging the little one cos she crawled under my table, picked up her toy and just stood up and hit her head from under the table. I told her '你已经长高了。不可以就这样站起来。要先爬出来才不会撞到头。知道不知道?' Then i heard the a little voice repeated after me '姿道不姿'. She sounded a bit off but it caught me by surprise that she has started mimicking how we talk. Suddenly, we are paying more attention to what she is babbling about cos it's starting to sound like words. Haha!

More audible vocabs emerging

Apart from 爸爸妈妈 and tons of babblering, she has started to say some words. For sometime, a few of us had heard her say 我不要even before she turns one. But that's only when she is desperate to get her intentions across. Eg. When daddy wanted to throw her into the pool. Or when mommy insisted that she put on her beanie in the omni theatre.

Now her sensible vocab includes 'yeah' to tell mommy she wants her bedtime story, 'kay' as in 'okay', and 'god' to tell you she likes her food and it's 'good'.

Walking tod

玄玄has been walking a lot lately. More steadily and for longer distances. She does it without prompting and that has become the main method of moving around. Crawling is a thing of the past. She has graduated. Ha!

The 4th.....

Wow!! The 4th tooth is out...! That's fast, just a few days after the 3rd one popped out, the 4th one came out too. Now, 玄玄 has 2 upper teeth and 2 lower teeth. Yippee!

Third tooth sighted...!

Finally, Mummy has sighted the 3rd tooth. After a break of so so so long...! Her top right tooth is out. She's taking her own sweet time.

Baby steps!!

10th Jul

Mommy is excited!! Cos 小玄玄 decided to walk 4 steps, unsupported, today. We were at 姑姑's house. She didn't hesitate, and just walked towards Mommy before falling into her hands. Yippee!

Happy 玄玄！

玄子is extremely happy today, don't know over what. Mummy brought her to Robinson's and she was smiling at everyone, staff and customers. She's so interested in all the car seats on display as well. She's a happy baby today!!

A Solemn Day ...

It was a solemn day and Xuan Xuan must have felt it too. Today was the funeral of Daddy's Godfather. During the ceremony, Xuan Xuan had been a very good baby. She saw Daddy & Mummy turned around twice during the rites and called out to us. But after either Granny told her to keep quiet or she felt the serious atmosphere of the event, she kept to herself, playing quietly and did not make a scene at all.

Daddy and Mummy were so proud of their little one as it happened last night too. Apart from stretching out her hands once when she saw Daddy and Mummy turned around during the rites, she kept quiet and played with whatever's given to her without making a fuss. Except when she was too tired at 10pm and she badly needed her milk and sleep, she was well-behaved throughout.

The solemn event went smoothly and Daddy and Mummy were so happy that Xuan Xuan can hold it up quite well.

Xuan Xuan learns to walk ...

Overnight, Xuan Xuan had decided that she is brave enough to walk with the support of only one hand. And she has been walking much steadily without dragging her feet in fear of falling down. You go, gal!!!

'There' stage

Xuan Xuan's vocabulary increased by 1 today. She learned the meaning and effect of the word 'there'. By pointing to anywhere and saying 'there' when in Mummy's hands, Mummy will bring her in that direction to where she wants to go. And she has been doing that to everybody who carries her. The 'there' stage milestone is met.

Estelle's 1!!!!

It's party time!! Our little 玄玄 is turning 1 today! The new toddler woke up and did her usual routine of calling out for Daddy & Mummy first thing in the morning, latched for her breakfast, played around on the big bed, made enough noise to pull her Mummy out of bed to bathe and feed her, played around when 姑姑，姑丈, Sean kor kor and Ning jie jie came, and blissfully fell asleep in Mommy's arms, unaware that everybody's busy preparing for her birthday party.

Soon, the cake arrived, the food too, 玄玄 finally woke up and gave Mummy a big smile. Guests slowly arrived while Daddy, Mummy and 姑姑 were busying arranging the tables and chairs, brightening the room with photos and decorations and setting up the kids corner with the castle of balls.

Daddy brought down her walker. She was delighted and started walking around

the function room. Dinner started. Everyone was busy helping themselves to the buffet and catching up with friends. Surprisingly, the little girl was at her walker for over an hour, touring around the tables, waving' and blabbering to her guests.

If not for Daddy and Mummy picking her up and bringing her to her cake, she'll still be walking around doing her 'royal wave'. Her cake is a baby pink No. 1 cake, decorated with a Minnie Mouse. After singing the birthday song, which she happily smiled and clapped her hands at probably because she likes music instead of knowing she is the birthday girl (or maybe she really does like the attention), blowing out the candles and cutting the cake, she went back to her walker and continued to do her rounds.

Then after a few hours of walking, she finally got tired and slipped and fell. That's when she ended her walking stint and sat on 奶奶's lap to peel her red eggs.

After which, she was whizzed back, wiped down and changed. Sean kor kor stayed over for the night and both of them listened to a bedtime story which she chose before being tugged to bed.

Estelle's officially 1!!

A trip to the newly open Woodlands Waterfront

Yesterday, 玄玄was so tired she only woke up at 11am. But nonetheless, there's still time for an excursion to the new Woodlands Waterfront. There is the longest boardwalk, 400m long. There's lots of people there too. Many with their fishing rods and picnic mats. 小玄子had some cool breeze in her hair before heading home.

To the zoo again ...

玄玄visits the zoo again, after 8 months. This time, she gets to see more animals and even had some fun at the water park for kids.

2nd tooth .... !

If Xuan Xuan's teeth are taking their own sweet time to cut, Daddy & Mummy are in for a long, tiring teething journey ahead. Xiao Xuan Zi's second tooth was spotted today. About 3 weeks after her 1st tooth appears. Hopefully the rest don't give all of us a hard time. Now, she's has a cute smile with 2 lower front teeth sticking up.

Second IMAX movie - Beavers

It was Estelle's 2nd visit to the Omni Theatre for another IMAX movie. This time, Mommy brought her there to join Toto, 4D, grandma & grandpa. The show was 40 mins long. She paid attention to it for a total of about 25mins (startling at every tree fall), stared at grandma & 4D for about a total of 10 mins, and the rest of the 5 mins, she spent telling stories to grandma & 4D & herself. Maybe she was just narrating ...

玄玄发牙了！！！

Finally, Mommy saw a white little tooth sticking out from little 玄玄's lower left gum. Her first tooth is out. 玄玄发牙了！！！

玄玄called 妈妈，爸爸this morning!!!!!

Mummy is beginning to believe that 玄玄does understand what it means to call 妈妈and爸爸。

She woke up in the morning, played a while in her cot and finally got bored and wanted some attention. So she called out to 妈妈，爸爸 the correct hanyupinyin style. She called a few times and her pronounciation was exactly the same and accurate too...

Mummy is trying to convince Daddy now...,

Stand tall....

小淇淇got up on her two little feet today. She caught Daddy by surprise when she greeted him standing up holding onto the railings of her cot when he responded to her call. And this is the beginning of a very long path ahead..!

玄玄's first movie - IMAX

Today, 玄玄experienced something new. She went to watch 'Under The Sea', an IMAX movie at OmniTheatre. She sat through the movie, trying to pay attention. And gave up after 30mins after she started to get tired.

玄玄's first photoshoot

The whole family went for a photoshoot today. And 玄玄 has a part too. She was the first to take a shot. Still looking blur as she just woke from a nap, and being whizzed to the studio, changed and placed alone under the spotlight, with a camera aiming at her like a cannon. But she took just a while to get through the initial puzzle and went on to smile and play happily.

Unfortunately, she was too excited and fell off a baby couch. She burst into tears and needed to be latched to soothe her down. That didn't stop her from enjoying the rest of the shoot though. After a while, she was back again, taking more photos and laughing all the way.

玄玄's favourite game

Guess what's 玄子's favourite passtime? Twirling her pacifier in her mouth. Ha! She twirls it clockwise for many times until her pacifier chain gets shorten and taut. But seem like she doesn't twirl it anticlockwise though, cos the pacifier chain doesn't unwind.

玄玄会坐了!!!

Brought 玄子 to Blk 9 for the day. When we went back to pick her up, to our amazement, she could actually sit on her own, straight and steady. Another milestone met....
